Sharp Trade Insight, Stronger Business across South Asia.
Introduction
South Asian Trade Centre (SATC) is a new regional initiative dedicated to strengthening trade and economic integration among South Asian countries through rigorous research and focused training. SATC helps students, researchers and practitioners turn data and evidence into better trade decisions and real business impact.
What SATC Does
SATC works at the intersection of research, capacity building, and policy dialogue to make regional trade more informed and inclusive. Research training: We start by offering practical online training in research methodology for business, economics and social science learners. Applied trade research: Over time, SATC will develop studies, briefs and tools on key issues such as intra‑regional supply chains, digital trade facilitation and MSME export readiness. Knowledge network: Graduates and partners join a growing South Asian network of people working with evidence to improve trade policy and business practice.
Why Research for Trade?
South Asia still trades less with itself than most other regions, despite shared borders and deep historical ties. One reason is the lack of accessible, high‑quality evidence on the real barriers firms face at borders, in logistics and in regulations. SATC focuses on building research capacity so that future decisions by governments, chambers and businesses can rely on clear, context‑specific data instead of assumptions.
Start With Our Research Methodology Training
Our first flagship program is an online Research Methodology Training tailored to South Asian trade and development topics. Participants will: Learn to design research questions and hypotheses linked to real trade and business problems. Practice collecting and analyzing data from regional markets and public sources. Develop skills to write concise, policy‑relevant outputs that decision‑makers can use. Learn More About the Training.
Stay Connected
SATC will gradually publish insights, short notes and articles on regional trade through our Blog. As the centre grows, you will also find updates on events, new courses and collaborative projects.
